The short version

  • This is not a Government of Canada website. We are not part of, approved by or connected to IRCC or any government.
  • Nothing here is legal or immigration advice.
  • Our practice questions are written by us from the public study guide. They are not the real test questions, which are not public.
  • We try hard to be accurate, but mistakes can happen. The official sources always win.
  • Using this site does not guarantee you will pass the test or become a citizen.

Not a Government of Canada website

HomelandCanada is an independent, privately run educational website. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or connected in any way to the Government of Canada, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), or any other government body. We cannot process applications, book or reschedule tests, check the status of an application, make decisions about eligibility, or act for you in any government process. For anything official, go to IRCC on canada.ca.

Use of the national flag, the maple leaf or the name “Canada” on this site is descriptive. It does not mean the Government of Canada made or approves this site.

Not legal or immigration advice

Nothing on this site is legal, immigration or other professional advice, and using it does not create any professional relationship with us. Citizenship rules, fees, eligibility and test procedures are set by the Government of Canada and can change at any time. For advice about your own situation, contact IRCC, a lawyer, or a licensed immigration consultant (a member of the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants).

Practice questions are not the real test

The real citizenship test questions are confidential and are not published. We have no access to them. Every practice question, flashcard and mock test on this site was written by us from the public study guide, Discover Canada, and from public canada.ca pages. The “mock test” copies the format of the real test (20 questions, 45 minutes, 15 to pass) as IRCC describes it; it does not use real test content. The questions shown on the Read Discover Canada page are the sample and study questions printed in the guide itself.

Accuracy

We check facts against the official sources and link to them, and where the guide is out of date we say so. Even so, this site may contain errors or omissions, or may fall behind official changes. The official Discover Canada guide and canada.ca are the authoritative sources. If anything here differs from them, follow the official source, and please tell us so we can fix it.

No guarantee of results

Using HomelandCanada, including passing our mock tests, does not guarantee that you will pass the citizenship test, that you will be invited to a test, or that your citizenship application will be approved.

Government material we use

Lessons are written in our own words, based on Discover Canada: The Rights and Responsibilities of Citizenship and canada.ca pages, which are © His Majesty the King in Right of Canada. Where we reproduce government material (the guide on the Read Discover Canadapage, and the study questions printed in it), we do so for free, non-commercial, educational use, with the full title and source, as the Government of Canada's terms allow. Those reproductions are not official versions and have not been made in affiliation with, or with the endorsement of, the Government of Canada. We do not reproduce the Arms of Canada, the Canada wordmark or other official marks; where a lesson describes them, it links to the official image.

Links to other websites

We link to canada.ca and other sites for your convenience. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices.
