This policy explains how HomelandCanada(“we”, “us”) handles personal information when you use this website. We follow the principles of Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA): we collect only what we need, say why, protect it, and let you access or delete it.
Every study feature works without an account. Your lesson progress, quiz history, bookmarks and settings are saved in your browser's local storage, on your own device. They are not sent to us, and we cannot see them. You can erase them at any time from Settingsor by clearing your browser's data for this site.
Accounts are optional. If you create one, we collect:
We use this only to run your account and sync your progress. We do not use it for advertising, profiling or automated decisions about you, and we do not sell, rent or trade it.
Like every website, our hosting provider receives technical information when your browser loads a page: your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. It is used only to deliver the site, keep it secure and fix problems, and is kept for a short time under the provider's log retention. We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking tools. See our Cookie Notice.
We use a small number of service providers, who may only use your information to provide their service to us:
Because these providers are in, or may store data in, the United States or other countries, your information may be processed outside Canada and may be accessible to courts, law enforcement and national security authorities of those countries under their laws.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it (for example, a valid court order), or to protect the safety of a person.
We keep account and study data while your account exists. When you delete your account, or ask us to, we delete your data from our database and from our sign-in provider within 30 days, apart from copies held briefly in backups that expire on their own.
All traffic uses HTTPS encryption. Passwords are never stored by us. Access to the database is limited to the site operator. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but if a breach ever created a real risk of significant harm to you, we would notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as the law requires.
To make a request, email mzialeo@hotmail.com. We will reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or, in Quebec, the Commission d'accès à l'information.
This site is meant for adults preparing for the citizenship test. Accounts are not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change significantly affects how we use information we already hold, we will tell account holders by email before it takes effect.
The person responsible for privacy at HomelandCanada can be reached at mzialeo@hotmail.com.
